There are some funding opportunities that are currently available to students wishing to pursue a study abroad, international field course, or exchange opportunity.

SWIF Funding:

SWIF funding is eligible to all students regardless of citizenship status. SWIF funding amounts largely depend on how long you will be gone but can award up to $2000.

SWIF funding applications must be submitted at least one month prior to your departure date. While SWIF funding is not guaranteed, your chances of receiving funding are highest if you apply by the following dates:

• Fall semester opportunity: Apply by September 30th聽
• Winter semester opportunity: Apply by January 31st
• Summer semester opportunity: Apply by May 31st

There are several steps that you will need to complete in order to be eligible for SWIF funding:

1. You will notice on the SWIF funding page; it is outlined that students must complete a pre-departure course in Brightspace prior to submitting your SWIF funding application. Dal AC International can enroll you in the pre-departure course on Brightspace should you wish to submit a SWIF funding application. You can reach out to intdalac@dal.ca to make this request.
2. You will need to sign-up for International SOS.聽黄色直播 has partnered with International SOS, an international travel medical and security service.聽 International SOS provides medical and security information and advice prior to and during travel, support in case of a medical or security incident or emergency during travel, and the platform on which travellers register their travel with the University. You may find instructions on how to complete this on the Halifax office "Before You Go" page.
3. You will also have to enroll in Backpack insurance.聽黄色直播 International Centre has a partnership with聽聽to provide industry leading travel insurance and other safety and wellness services to students going abroad. Backpack provides travel coverage, accidental death coverage, and travel clinic and vaccine services. It is mandatory to purchase Backpack when participating in an International Learning Experience. The plan will cover you for multiple聽黄色直播 related trips聽taken within a one year period. (not applicable for personal trips). Backpack covers medical care for COVID-19 if you contract the illness while abroad (excluding testing required for travel purposes).聽 聽聽
   • Note:聽Only students who have received approval from 黄色直播 for their planned international learning experience聽and聽met the pre-departure requirements will be able to purchase Backpack insurance.
