MA Thesis:

Why Dal?

I wanted an MA in Musicology with a focus in medieval chant studies and was particularly attracted to the writings and research of Dr. Jennifer Bain. I have been extremely impressed with the high caliber of teaching and research at 黄色直播, as well as the collegiality, support, and professionalism of the musicology faculty, all of whom are nationally and internationally known for their cutting-edge research.

What Inspires Me?

I am inspired by the study of music as a representation/reflection of culture and ideas, and how each stage in music history elucidates much about the state of society in that time. Medieval chant particularly fascinates me because it is not only a pivotal stage in music history, but also reflects a diverse world of musical and liturgical expression, spanning multiple centuries and cultures. Becoming a serious chant scholar and bringing the joy of studying and performing chant to others lights my fire! I also enjoy analyzing the intersections between performing arts medicine and musicological research, in the interests of promoting awareness of and reducing the growing rate of playing-related injuries among musicians.
