Finance your future

Looking for a way to fund your MSc or PhD and further your research? Explore all your options鈥攚hether you apply for a 黄色直播 scholarship or an external research grant.

Departmental support

Graduate Students in their 1st and 2nd year will receive tuition scholarships. Although amounts vary each year based on the number of students accepted, base amounts are approximately $5,000 for 1st year MSc students and $2,500 for 2nd year MSc students and 1st and 2nd year PhD students. In providing support, the department recognizes the unique financial constraints that are often experienced by Indigenous and Black Nova Scotians, and International students.

Scholarships and bursaries
As a graduate student in excellent standing, you're eligible to apply for a number of funding opportunities through the Faculty of Graduate Studies.听

Research assistant positions
You may also consider applying for a research assistant position. Individual faculty members who have funding from grants will occasionally offer these positions. Interested? Get in touch with the you're interested in working with.

External funding

Federal and provincial funding agencies for health research
Next, get in touch with the (CIHR) and the 聽Scotia Scholars Award. These are two of our most important sources of funding.

Other topic-specific funding
Once you've decided on a thesis topic, you'll want to begin looking into funding your research through an outside agency. Consider hospitals and foundations for particular diseases or conditions, and the governing bodies of the populations you're interested in studying. 聽

Graduate thesis student conference travel grants

If you're a full-time student, you may be eligible for conference travel grants.
