Presenting The Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity—a first-of-its-kind ocean science centre for Halifax. Opening in late 2025, this interactive centre will give visitors unprecedented opportunities to discover marine life and explore research exhibits that reveal our connection to the ocean and our role in protecting it.

Inspiring people to help sustain the ocean

Construction of the highly anticipated Beaty Centre is underway at »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥â€™s Steele Ocean Sciences Building—the hub of the university’s marine biology and marine biodiversity research. This first-of-its-kind interactive ocean and science discovery centre will showcase the innovative work being done by Dal researchers who are dedicated to protecting our vital ocean resources. It will also encourage local students, Nova Scotians, and visitors from around the world to think about how they can contribute to a more sustainable ocean.Ìý

The Beaty Centre will be operated by Discovery Centre International (DCI) in collaboration with »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥. DCI has over 35 years of experience in the management of science centres. The Beaty Centre will benefit greatly from their expertise and proven success, helping to bring its mission to life.
