POSITION #1: Teaching Assistant (130 hours)-HSCE 2000.03 Healthcare Ethics, Winter 2025~2 positions available

Winter 2025, Jan 6-April 19, 2025

This course is taught asynchronously online using Brightspace. Students taking this course may be post-diploma students who are located throughout Canada.
WORK ASSIGNMENT: The Teaching Assistants for Health Care Ethics will be responsible for working with the course professor to ensure that the course runs efficiently.   Evaluation of student performance (marking) will be shared between the teaching assistants and the course professor.   The Teaching Assistants report to the course professor.   Position is for 130 hours each for the semester.    This course is taught fully on-line.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Individuals interested in applying for this position should have outstanding organizational and communication skills, should work well with others and be self-motivated independent workers.  The successful applicant will be familiar with current issues in health care ethics and have at least an undergraduate degree in a related area. Experience using Brightspace or similar online learning platform is required.

POSITION #2: Teaching Assistants (110 hrs); Teaching Assistants (25 hrs) HSCE 3000.03, Culture, Diversity & Health, Winter 2025~2 positions available

Dec 14, 2024-April 19, 2025
This course is taught online using On-line Web Learning (Brightspace). Students taking this distance course may include students who are located throughout Canada.
WORK ASSIGNMENT: The Teaching Assistants will be responsible for working with the course professor to ensure that the course runs efficiently.  Evaluation of student performance (marking) and proctoring examinations will be shared between the teaching assistants and the course professor.  The Teaching Assistants report to the course professor and will be expected to meet in advance of the start of winter term to review expectations and workload.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Individuals interested in applying for this position should have outstanding organizational and communication skills, should work well with others and be self-motivated independent workers.  The successful applicants will be familiar with and interested in current issues related to cultural competency and diversity in the Canadian health care context. As well, the successful applicant will have strong knowledge of the Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) and a compassionate understanding of the SDoH as a lens through which health is understood. Master's or PhD student is preferred.

POSITION #3: Teaching Assistant (130 hours)~HSCE 4220.03: Critical Research Appraisal & Practices-Winter 2025

(January 6-April 19, 2025)
This course is taught online using On-line Web Learning (Brightspace). Students taking this distance course may include students who are located throughout Canada.
WORK ASSIGNMENT:   This course is taught on-line using the learning management system, Brightspace. The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for working with the course professor to ensure that the course runs efficiently and effectively.  Evaluation of student performance and participation on an ongoing basis will be expected of the TA in this role.  The Teaching Assistant reports to the course professor. 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Individuals interested in applying for this position should have outstanding organizational and communication skills, should work well with others and be self-motivated independent workers.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.  Experience with Brightspace is an asset. Applicants at minimum should have completed an undergraduate degree.
