Exchange Programs

The School of Architecture currently is participating in two exchange programs that enable M2 students from »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ to study for a semester at another architecture school while students from the other schools study at »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥.

University of Lisbon, Portugal

Destination:Ìý

Purpose for outbound »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ students: To study architecture through other teaching methods and practices and to learn about architectural culture and life in Portugal; to experience living in a large European city; to visit some significant buildings and cities in Europe.

Faculty coordinators: Diogo Burnay (»ÆÉ«Ö±²¥), Office of External Relations, FA-UL.

Eligible students: M2.

Places available each year: 3.

Duration: Early September to late January (winter semester at University of Lisbon).

Language requirement: Courses will be taught in English. Learning some Portuguese will be helpful.

Registration: With a letter of permission from »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥, you register for five or six courses (approx. 30 ECTS) at University of Lisbon that are equivalent to Year 5 courses (15 credit-hours) in design, humanities, and technology, plus an elective.

Fees and expenses: You pay tuition fees to »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥. You pay for your travel, accommodation, health insurance, and living expenses.

Travel requirements: To apply, you need to have a passport that is valid until at least June 2025. A student visa will be needed later.

Application requirements: A letter of intent (PDF, max. 2 pages), describing how this exchange would advance your plans for the MArch program.

Criteria for selection: Academic record, B5 design portfolio (submitted earlier), ability to work independently, potential benefit from the exchange.

University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland

Destination:Ìý

Purpose for outbound »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ students: to learn about architectural culture in the United Kingdom; to experience living in a large Scottish city near many significant works of architecture.

Faculty coordinators: Steve Parcell (»ÆÉ«Ö±²¥), Michael Angus (Strathclyde).

Eligible students: M2.

Places available each year: 4. Ìý

Duration: Mid-September to mid-December (fall semester)

Registration: With a letter of permission from »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥, you register for four or five courses (30 ECTS) at Strathclyde that are equivalent to Year 5 courses (15 credit-hours) in design, humanities, technology, and an elective.

Fees and expenses: You pay tuition fees to »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥. You pay for your travel, accommodation, health insurance, and living expenses. Off-campus housing is sparse but on-campus housing is available.

Travel requirements: To apply, you need to have a passport that is valid until at least June 2025. A student visa will not be needed.
