Usage Rules: AV‑300 Spectrometer

Access to the AV-300 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the exception of 2 hours every Wednesday for the liquid nitrogen fill (currently 11 am - 1 pm) as well as routine maintenance. Two modes of access are available on the AV-300: (1) Scheduled time reserved in advance via CALCIUM and (2) walk-up time using ICONNMR and the SampleXPress Lite Autosampler. Scheduled time is available by default every week-day between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm; all other time is walk-up.

Scheduled time on the AV-300 must be reserved using CALCIUM. In CALCIUM, the available time is divided into 5-minute appointments and every user has a 1-hour quota per day.  Appointments cannot be booked any further than 2 days in advance.

From time-to-time situations arise where extended periods of time are required on the spectrometer. In any situation where extended periods of time need to be booked on the AV-300, you are required to inform the Coordinator of NMR-3 (mike.lumsden@dal.ca or 902-494-1635) at least 2-days in advance of your requested time.  Mike will then in-turn give the rest of the users at least 1-day advance notice of the extended booking via email.
