聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽The CERC.OCEAN Lab got a head start to by participating in the CMOS 2023 Congress in St John鈥檚, Newfoundland, from May 28 to June 1. It was an excellent week with full of learning new science, seeing old friends, and fostering new connections.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Our group was present in force, participating with a diverse lineup of oral presentations and posters. Post-doctoral fellow Jannes Koelling was awarded with the CMOS Roger Daley Post-Doctoral Publication Award for his published article 鈥Oxygen export to the deep ocean following Labrador Sea Water Formation鈥, and MSc student Teala Chambers won 3rd place Poster Prize for her poster presentation 鈥Exploring the vertical distribution of redox sensitive elements in a coastal anoxic basin (Whycocomagh Bay, Cape Breton).鈥 Notably, Kitty Kam was chosen as an ECOP representative for ECOP Canada, and helped to facilitate discussion about in the ORCA 2023 meeting that happened after CMOS Congress.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Communicating our research and learning from other ocean professionals is a valuable experience for all of us. We are grateful to have been able to celebrate the start of ocean week in this way and encourage everyone to celebrate this special day by connecting and exploring new knowledges about the ocean!
