Deadline: SSHRC Destination Horizon Grants
support researchers affiliated with eligible Canadian postsecondary institutions to build capacity, foster existing partnerships, and further develop networks and/or consortia with European Union and other 鈥渁ssociated countries鈥 researchers, with the ultimate goal of applying to 鈥擯illar II calls for proposals.
Destination Horizon Grants are not intended to support implementation of Horizon Europe projects. Instead, the grants support activities between researchers that facilitate:
- Disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary exchanges;
- Scholarly exchanges;
- Intersectoral exchanges between academic researchers and practitioners from the public, private and/or not-for-profit sectors; and/or
- International research collaboration and scholarly exchanges between researchers affiliated with Canadian postsecondary institutions and researchers, students and non-academic partners from the EU and other associated countries.
Eligibility: An applicant鈥檚 primary affiliation must be in the social sciences or humanities (The applicant should be able to demonstrate via their CV that their primary discipline or area of study is in a domain that would typically be eligible at SSHRC).
Value: Applicants may request up to $15k from SSHRC for a 12-month project period. Importantly, this program requires a cash contribution from the host institution equivalent to 100% of the amount requested from SSHRC.
Next steps: Given the tight timeline, for the January 22, 2025 SSHRC deadline, researchers interested in applying to this opportunity are asked to submit to ORS through ROMEO the following:
- A complete application, including a 4 page proposal and 2 page budget justification.
- A letter confirming the host institution鈥檚 cash contribution.
The application must be received by ORS, with Department/Faculty approvals, via ROMEO - submissions must be received by the ORS internal deadline of January 8, 2025.
If more than three applications are received, a committee (as appointed by the VPRI) will review applications to select which three will go forward for submission to SSHRC. Please note, the documents received through ROMEO will be received as final for submission to the committee for review and selection as applicable.
