Personal Parchment Request
Personal Display Parchment:
This document serves as a non-legal parchment designed exclusively for display purposes. It is available for graduates of degree and diploma programs.
Reasons for requesting a personal display parchment:
To display your academic achievements:
- in multiple locations (e.g., multiple clinical or professional offices). Unlike official parchments, students can request multiple personal display parchments.
- with your chosen name
- with your name displayed in a non-Latin alphabet or logographic language (e.g., Mi’kmaq, Arabic, Chinese, etc.)
Use of Personal Display Parchments:
- The personal display parchment is intended solely for display purposes and is not a legal document.
- The personal display parchment are used exclusively for the purpose of showcasing academic credentials achieved by the individual named on the parchment. Any use beyond this intended purpose is strictly prohibited.
- Information submitted for inclusion on the personal display parchment will only include students' names.
Non-legal status:
- This parchment cannot be used or verified by the institution for employment and/or immigration purposes, licensing bodies, student loan issuers, or for other educational institutions.
- All personal display parchments will contain a notation that it is not a legal document and is for display purposes only.
Service fee: $50
While it is our expectation that students pay the required fee for this service, we recognize that unforeseen challenges can arise. In such cases, we’ve established a process through which to evaluate accommodations on a case-by-case basis. Please contact graduation@dal.ca with your query and our team will assess it considering the unique circumstances presented. It’s important to provide accurate and detailed information to support your request.
Deadline to request for graduating students for distribution at convocation:
- Spring Graduation – March 31
- Fall Graduation – August 31
Graduating students who submit their request by the deadline will receive their personal display parchment alongside their official parchment at their convocation ceremony.
Graduating students can still request a personal display parchment after these dates; however, the parchments will be available approximately 4-weeks after the conclusion of the convocation ceremonies.
Deadline to request for alumni:
Alumni can submit their request at any time. Processing typically requires 4-weeks, but there may be further delays in processing your request during peak convocation periods (September and May/June).
How to request a personal display parchment:
Requesting a personal display parchment is a two-step process.Â
- Submit the online request form (located below)
- Submit the service fee payment through »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥'s UStore. A link to the UStore will be provided once the online request form is submitted.Â
University of King's College:
Graduates from the University of King's College who have completed a degree conferred by »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ or jointly conferred by both institutions are eligible to request personal display parchments using the request form below. Graduates of the Bachelor of Journalism (Honours) or Bachelor of Journalism should submit a request using the following website:Â
