Rebuilding Fish Nations
AFN National Fisheries Forum and Trade Show 2020
Fredericton, NB - June 2-5, 2020

The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) will be hosting plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and fisheries trade show that will explore what a Reconciliation Strategy could be – one that achieves true recognition, respect, and implementation of First Nations inherent and Treaty rights, and self-determination.

This Forum provides an unrivalled opportunity for dialogue focused on the role of First Nations and the potential to work together for the future of Canada’s fisheries and oceans. This event will be a platform for discussion and insights on key priorities such as implementing Aboriginal Rights and Title, commercial inland and marine fisheries, aquaculture, ocean governance, marine spatial planning, Species-at-Risk, and Indigenous Knowledge Systems.

The Forum will involve the participation of First Nations leaders and representatives, policy and technical advisors, industry and corporate leaders, academia, environmental organizations, and federal and provincial government officials. This Forum provides a unique national opportunity to:

• Build awareness of your organization, profile your projects and meet potential partners;
• Gain access to First Nations and industry representatives, environmental
  advocates, policy and decision makers in the sector;
• Network with First Nations, advocates, and leaders in the sector;
• Benefit from national and international media coverage;
• Create avenues for cooperation and partnerships in the seafood industry.
