Part‑Time Academic Posting ‑ Psychology and Neuroscience

PSYO 2000 Methods in Experimental Psychology is a core, required course for all Psychology and Neuroscience majors. Enrollment is approximately 270 students, with lectures and labs each week. Some labs are taught by graduate students enrolled in PSYO 7100 Seminar in Teaching Effectiveness. Enrollment is approximately 12-15 students with lecture on Mondays and practical teaching experience during PSYO 2000 labs. The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for specific aspects of Methods in Experimental Psychology (PSYO 2000.03) and Seminar in Teaching Effectiveness (PSYO 7100) in the Fall term.

Fall Semester – September to December 2019

1. Teaching PSYO 2000 lab section B01 (Tuesday 530-730 pm) – 20-25 students.

2. Teaching up to 2 lectures in PSYO 2000 to the entire class (dates TBD by mutual convenience, class taught Tues/Thurs 1030-1130).

3. Attends Monday meeting of all PSYO2000/PSYO7100 instructors (1130-1330) (approximately 11 meetings per term).

4. Two different weeks of the term (one week in October and one week in November) attend all lab sections delivered that week (13-14 sections x 2) to ensure consistent delivery AND evaluate the graduate student enrolled in PSYO 7100 delivering the lab.

5. Complete grade entry and publishing for PSYO 2000 exams (one midterm and final) and final grade entry.

6. Create an online teaching evaluation system to assess graduate students enrolled in PSYO 7100 when delivering labs to PSYO 2000 undergraduates (midterm and end of term) in consultation with the instructors of PSYO 7100 and PSYO 2000 to be ready for the first evaluation in October.

7. Organizes data for feedback from evaluation system for delivery to students registered in PSYO 7100.

The successful applicant must also be available for two hours per week for student consultation. This position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Applicants must have a PhD in Psychology or Neuroscience and demonstrated teaching effectiveness (please provide teaching evaluations, if available). Previous experience teaching the class material an asset.
