Employment Opportunity: Registrar’s Office – Student Assistant

The Registrar’s Office is hiring a Student Assistant for the summer. The student assistant will be primarily responsible for supporting enrolment-related activities throughout the summer. The main responsibility will be in providing tours to prospective students and parents visiting campus and showcasing our community and facilities. Assistance with outreach to prospective and current students as well as responding to student inquiries will be an important aspect of the work. Duties will also include general office support and administrative work related to enrolment and academic advising services. Candidates should be engaged and connected in both the King’s and larger Halifax community.
Specific Duties/Accountabilities:
The student assistant will work closely with the On-Campus Recruitment and Admissions Officer, the Assistant Registrar – Student Recruitment, and staff in the Registrar’s Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Guiding visitors around campus, familiarizing them with the campus, resources, and facilities
-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Updating the On-Campus Recruitment and Admissions Officer on progress of tours
-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Assisting with other on-campus recruitment events, visiting school groups, guidance counsellor events, and occasional weekend tours (when necessary)
-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Filing and scanning
-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Responding to student inquiries and providing support for Enrolment and Academic Services activities as required
-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Supporting preparation for Fall recruitment season
-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Assisting with office and administrative duties for the Registrar’s Office
Qualifications:
Education – Applicants must be a current University of King’s College student with a flexible summer schedule.
Experience – Preference is given to students with strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a related field.
Closing Date: Wednesday, May 1, 2019
Salary: $12.00/hour
Contract Dates: Monday, May 27, 2019 – Friday, August 30, 2019 (35 hours/week)
