PAY RATE:  Half-class stipend, according to C.U.P.E. agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT

To teach English 1100.03, Writing for University, in the Summer term of the 2018-2019 academic year, July 2 – July 23.  Classes will be held Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 9:35-11:55.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, supervision of a teaching assistant, test preparation and evaluation, and grading the final exam. The part-time academic should also be available for two hours per week for consultation with students. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in English or be in the final stages of a Ph.D. program. Previous experience teaching at the university level is required.

All applications should include a curriculum vitae, two confidential letters of reference and evidence of teaching effectiveness. For each part-time academic the Chair will conduct an annual assessment of teaching performance, based on student ratings of instruction and may also include classroom observation, conducted either by the Chair or a representative from the Centre for Learning and Teaching with reasonable advance notice.
