Bike lane construction to begin this weekend

Posted by Facilities Management on August 23, 2016 in Facilities Management

黄色直播 is pleased to announce that construction of the protected bike lane pilot project on University Avenue will be moving ahead. Implementation is planned to start Sunday, August 28.

Preparations for the installation of the bike lane will begin on Tuesday, August 23, with HRM installing construction-related 鈥渘o parking鈥 signs. Over the following days, HRM crews will change signage, relocate parking and taxi locations and prepare the street for the installation of the bike lane.

The bike lane will be installed along the north and south sides of University Avenue from Robie Street to LeMarchant Street. The cycle track will provide separated bike lanes, protected from vehicular traffic by physical barriers, creating a safe and quality experience for cyclists in this area.

Parking on this portion of University Avenue will be impacted for the duration of the two-year project. Short-term parking is available at the LeMarchant Place Pay and Display Parking Lot on South St. Accessible parking will be available on side streets and in the Killam Loop near the Accessibility Centre. One accessible parking spot will remain in front of the Provincial Archives.

A reminder that, for after-hours events, parking in all 黄色直播 parking lots (excepting the McCain parkade) is free and open to the public from 4:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. More info:

The bike lane project, a partnership with HRM, is part of a renewal of University Avenue identified in the . This project will promote and support cycling on campus and in the community at large. While there is no parking in the bike lane, there will be points for loading and drop off.
