POSITION:ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý PART-TIME ACADEMIC INSTRUCTOR
TERM:                        January 4, 2016 – April 6, 2016

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The part-time academic instructor will be responsible for teaching NURS4060.03/N5830.03 – Palliative Care Nursing during the Winter term of the academic year 2015-2016.
This course provides an overview of the significant issues facing individuals and their families related to life threatening illness, dying, and the promotion of quality of life. An exploration of one's own attitudes, beliefs, and values regarding death and dying provide a foundation for examination and discussion of course content. An analysis of the principles and standards of palliative care, principles of primary healthcare, methods of assessment, and means of pain and symptom management guide delivery of care. Emphasis on communication, collaboration within teams, ethical issues, spiritual and cultural influences, and grief and coping provide opportunities for reflection and discussion.
This is a 3 credit hour course consisting of 3 hours of lecture per week.
This contract runs from January 1, 2016 through April 30, 2016. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·        Development of teaching and learning activities related to the course
·        Delivery and co-ordination of the course
·        Assessment and evaluation of student learning
·        Use of BbLearn for course delivery
·        Responding to student queries about coursework
·        Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services
·        Participation in course discussions within the program
·        Develop and administer examinations
·        Submission of grades
·        Follow up with students as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with relevant expertise and teaching experience. PhD preferred.
