WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The part-time academic instructor will be responsible for teaching NURS1240.03 – Introduction to Nursing Practice during the Spring term of the academic year 2014-2015.
Students are introduced to health care settings where they interact with older adults at various levels of health. As a basis for these experiences the foundations of nursing addressed in NURS 1000.03 and NURS 1030.03, are further developed. Learning experiences are designed to promote beginning knowledge and skills for the practice of nursing with an emphasis on helping relationships.
This is a 3 credit hour course with an average of 40 clinical practice hours per week.
This contract runs from May 1, 2015 through June 30, 2015. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Development of teaching and learning activities related to the course
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Delivery and co-ordination of the course, including coordination of labs and lab instructors
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Assessment and evaluation of student learning
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Use of BbLearn for course delivery
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Responding to student queries about coursework
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Participation in course discussions within the program
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Develop and administer examinations
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Submission of grades
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Follow up with students as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with relevant expertise and teaching experience. PhD preferred.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The part-time academic instructor will be responsible for teaching NURS3270.03 – Nursing Practice: Caring for Families as an integrated course with N3260 (Nursing Practice: Mothers, Infants and Childbearing Families) for accelerated students during the Summer term of the academic year 2014-2015.
Guided by the principles of primary health care, students focus on families and family health with an emphasis on a thorough understanding of family assessment and developing family therapeutic relationship skills. Students examine family health and health issues from a nursing, cultural, sociological, psychological, and other theoretical perspectives as they relate to nursing practice that focuses on working with families in all settings. Upon completion of the course, students will have developed competencies required to use a systems approach when working with families. Laboratory and clinical experiences that include visiting families in their homes to provide the students with opportunities to integrate, discuss, and practice family nursing.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The part-time academic instructor will be responsible for teaching NURS4210.03 – Nursing Practice: Children and Families for accelerated students during the Summer term of the academic year 2014-2015.
Students focus on nursing practice in the care of children and families. The determinants of child and family healthcare are examined, as well as the role of nursing practice in health promotion and illness prevention for children. Clinical and family issues associated with childhood illness and hospitalization draw on knowledge of child and family development as well as the art and science of nursing knowledge. Students work in clinical settings where care is provided to children and families experiencing illness.
