1. HSCE 2010 (Fall 2014)Ìý - Digital Imaging (on line)
Ìý
WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý Using internet technology, the sessional lecturer will be responsible for all aspects of developing, teaching and administering the class. This includes developing content for web-based delivery, facilitating tutorials, preparing and evaluating assignments, tests, etc. This interdisciplinary on line course presents an overview of the principles of digital imaging as they apply to the medical imaging fields of diagnostic medical ultrasound, nuclear medicine technology, and radiological technology. It includes the following topics: computer basics, image acquisition and processing, image file management, Picture Archiving and Communication systems (PACS), and teleradiology. The maximum enrolment for this course is 30 students.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:Ìý Relevant training/experience in a medical imaging field and recent clinical experience in digital imaging technology. Undergraduate or master’s degree preferred. Previous course development and teaching experience is desirable. Competence in the use of web-based learning technologies is an asset.

2. HSCE 3000 (Fall 2014; Winter 2015) -- Culture, Diversity & Health (on line)

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý Responsibilities will include all aspects of development of course materials for on line delivery, on line teaching, and administration of the course.Ìý The course will assist students in identifying special populations encountered in their professional practice and in considering ways of providing effective, compassionate care. The maximum enrolment for these courses are 50 (winter term) and 25 (fall term) students.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:Ìý Undergraduate degree in a health profession and a complementary graduate degree are required. Previous teaching experience in a university setting with an understanding of the health needs of special populations and an awareness of diversity issues in relation to health care.

3.Ìý HSCE 3010.03 (Fall 2014) - Introduction to Health Research (on line)
NOTE: This course is taught exclusively via distance learning using »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥â€™s web-based Blackboard Learn platform.
This course is designed to help students make sense of the research they can be expected to encounter in their professional practices. By focusing on the role of research in contemporary health professional practice this course will provide the student with a sound basis in the principles underlying research theory, measurement issues, experimental, exploratory and descriptive research designs, data analysis and communication skills.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: Responsibilities include development of course materials, teaching, student evaluation, administration of the course, working with/supervising a teaching assistant.Ìý The expectation is that the course be taught according to the current course outline. The maximum enrolment for this course is 55 students.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Knowledge of health services research and critical thinking methods.Ìý Previous teaching experience desired.Ìý A relevant master's degree preferred.Ìý Experience with BLS or equivalent would be considered an asset.Ìý Excellent organizational and written communication skills are required.

4. HSCE 4030.03 (Fall 2014) – Leadership in Health Care (on line)
WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The sessional instructor will be responsible for all aspects of developing, teaching and administering HSCE 4030.Ìý The course will be offered on-line through the Blackboard Learning System and will assist students in exploring issues of leadership in contemporary health care.Ìý Focus will be on developing leadership skills and gaining insight into the political mechanisms by which health policy is shaped and influenced. The maximum enrolment for this course is 65 students.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:Ìý An undergraduate degree and current certification in a health discipline.Ìý An understanding of theories of leadership, health services administration and their application to health care environments.Ìý Teaching at the university level specific to issues of leadership in health care and a broad understanding of current health system issues including professionalism, certification and regulation.

5. HSCE 2000.03 (Winter 2015) -Ìý Health Care Ethics

WORK ASSIGNMENT: As the instructor of record for HSCE 2000, an introductory course in health care ethics, the responsibilities of the sessional lecturer will include development of course materials, course delivery, teaching, and administration of the course.Ìý Topics include: moral theory and principles and ethical issues in health care.Ìý The maximum enrolment for this class is 60 students.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Knowledge of health care system and previous teaching experience desired. A master’s degree is required (a master’s degree in ethics is an asset).
