On Thursday, April 8, The Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage announced more than $1 million in funding to »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ for a three-year project led by »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ prof Afua Cooper that aims to fill a gap in African Canadian history education. The new project, called A Black People’s History of Canada, will support leading Black history scholars and organizations to create engaging new classroom-ready learning materials and digital media about the history of Black Canadians.

At the end of a rigorous six-month scholarship application process, including two rounds of interviews, »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ student Fatima Beydoun (BA’21) and graduate Caroline Merner (BA’17) have both recently received life-changing news. They are among 20 Canadians who have been chosen as inaugural McCall MacBain Scholars - the country’s first comprehensive leadership-based scholarship for master’s and professional studies.
