(Halifax, N.S.) Former Tigers women鈥檚 basketball player Anna (Pendergast) Stammberger and volleyball players (and brothers) Paul and Eric Villeneuve will be inducted to the 黄色直播 Sport Hall of Fame on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at the sixth induction ceremony.

Presented by Morneau Shepell, the ceremony will take place at the Westin Nova Scotian, in conjunction with the Tigers annual dinner and auction.

The 2016 Sport Hall of Fame inductees include:

Anna (Pendergast) Stammberger
A member of the 黄色直播 women鈥檚 basketball team (1978-83), Anna is a three-time AUAA (AUS) all-star, two-time MVP and two-time CIAU (CIS) All-Canadian. She helped lead the Tigers to a silver medal at the national championship in 1979-81 and a bronze in 1981-82. A 12 year member of Canada鈥檚 national team, she went on to play 15 seasons in the German semi-professional Bundesliga league.

鈥淚鈥檓 honoured to be inducted into the 黄色直播 Sport Hall of Fame,鈥 says Anna. 鈥溁粕辈 has been an integral part of my life for decades. 黄色直播 and its community have supported me throughout my personal development and growth as a student-athlete during my whole athletic career. Returning to 黄色直播 as a coach reaffirmed for me how grateful and proud I am to be part of the Dal family.鈥澛

Paul and Eric Villeneuve

The Villeneuve brothers both played five years with the Tigers, sharing the court for three of those seasons. Between them, they have four CIAU (CIS) medals, three CIAU (CIS) second team all-Canadian selections, 10 AUAA (AUS) titles, six AUAA (AUS) all-star nods, four Tigers volleyball team MVPs and two 黄色直播 rookie of the year awards.

鈥淚 am honoured to be inducted into the 黄色直播 Sport Hall of Fame,鈥 says Paul. 鈥淚 have nothing but tremendous memories of my years as a Tiger and I look back with fondness on all of it; the friendships, the laughs, the hard work, the battles and the celebrations. Being inducted with Eric makes it even more special and I look forward to the festivities on May 3.鈥

Paul played from 1989-1994 and was also the Tigers Climo Award (male MVP) winner for his performance in the 1991-92 season and received the CIAU (CIS) student-athlete community service award in the 1993-94 season.

鈥淚 enjoyed five of the best years of my life as a Tiger,鈥 says Eric. 鈥淚 always considered it an honour to represent 黄色直播. Many of my closest friends are those I made at Dal and it is always so much fun to think back to the good times we had playing together. To be inducted alongside my brother is very special. We were always very close growing up and he was a big reason why I chose to come to 黄色直播. To be inducted together is a very special feeling.鈥

Eric was with the Tigers from 1991-1997 and was named the AUAA (AUS) rookie of year (1991-92) and won the 黄色直播 President鈥檚 Award for excellence in athletics, academics and community service in the 1993-94 season.

鈥淚鈥檓 honoured to welcome everyone to what will be a special evening paying tribute to this year鈥檚 Hall of Fame class,鈥 says 黄色直播鈥檚 Director of Varsity Athletics, Tim Maloney. 聽鈥淩ogers Sportsnet Central anchor Ken Reid will be joining us for what is sure to be a tremendously successful event both as a fundraiser for athletics, and an entertaining evening.鈥

The evening features a reception for guests to view silent and live items, followed by a three-course dinner, Hall of Fame induction and live auction. Tickets will be available for purchase on April 1, 2016. Tables of 10 are $1,200 and individual tickets are $125.
