The Special Tigers Sports Program is extending thanks to the generous support of the RBC Learn to Play Project grant. In its third year, the Special Tigers Sports Program brings together children with developmental delays and 黄色直播 varsity athletes to share in their love for sport. Run by a dedicated group of student-athlete volunteers, the Special Tigers Sports Program provides participants with the opportunity to play sports such as mini-stick hockey, soccer, basketball and volleyball.
Over 30 student-athletes and 20 participants were at the event Saturday, a celebration of Sports Day in Canada community week. RBC鈥檚 support will be used to expand the program to include swimming events in the Dalplex pool, purchase developmentally appropriate equipment, and train student-athlete volunteers in NCCP Special Olympics Active Start and FUNdamentals physical literacy based programs.
鈥淭he RBC Learn to Play Project grant will have a great impact on the Special Tigers Program. We will be able to improve our delivery making this an even better event for youth with developmental delays in Nova Scotia,鈥 says Kristy McGregor-Bales, a fourth-year soccer athlete and co-president of the Special Tigers Society.
The Special Tigers Sports Program is running another five events during the 2014-2015 academic year, with all dates being announced on the program鈥檚 Facebook page at
