ɫֱ women’s soccer head coach Jack Hutchison is pleased to announce the addition of two Halifax natives to the Tigers 2013-14 lineup.
Rachel Hunt, a member of Nova Scotia’s 2013 Canada Summer Games Soccer team, has played on various provincial teams since the age of 12. The two-time Metro High School Soccer League Top Goalkeeper award winner led the Halifax West Warriors to a provincial championship last fall, shutting out the competition.
Hunt has been accepted to ɫֱ’s kinesiology program and is the recipient of an entrance scholarship.
“I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to play for the Tigers,” says Hunt. “After watching the team play over the past few years, I knew that ɫֱ is where I wanted to play. Dal has a very strong science program and a top-rated soccer team so I know I have made the right decision.”
“Rachel is a great student of the game,” says Hutchison. “She works hard developing her game and as a keeper with this knowledge, she will be a huge plus to our defensive unit.”
Also a member of the 2013 Canada Summer Games Soccer team, Adelle Goodfellow, comes to the Tigers from Halifax Grammar School where she recorded four hat tricks and was their team MVP last season. Goodfellow has also earned various basketball and track and field awards for excellence.
A previous Spafford Scholarship winner (for significant contribution to the athletic program at Halifax Grammar School), Goodfellow has been accepted to ɫֱ’s arts program.
“I am thrilled to be playing for, and representing ɫֱ,” says Goodfellow. “I have played with a number of the Dal players in the past and look forward to contributing to this excellent team.”
“Adelle is a footballer; a player with the ability to pass, receive and be comfortable on the ball,” says Hutchison. “Once she gets some AUS experience, we believe she has the ability to make the team and its players better.”
As members of the Dunbrack Soccer Club, Hunt and Goodfellow have attended four national championships. The pair will be headed to the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que. August 2-8.
