This weekend the 尘别苍鈥檚 and wo尘别苍鈥檚 soccer teams are battling to be the best in the Maritimes at the 2012 Subway AUS Championship. The 尘别苍鈥檚 championship is hosted by UPEI and the Tigers kick-off the action in the 3pm quarter-final game on Friday. 黄色直播鈥檚 wo尘别苍鈥檚 soccer team, the AUS defending champions, finished the regular season in second place, receiving a bye to Saturday鈥檚 3pm semifinal where they will play the highest remaining seed after Friday鈥檚 quarter-finals. The wo尘别苍鈥檚 championship is being hosted by CBU.听
At the championship banquets November 1 the 2012 AUS soccer all-stars and major award winners were announced based on regular season play. Congratulations to the Tigers winners:
Rieka Santilli, AUS Soccer MVP and AUS first team All-Star
A fifth-year Tigers captain, Santilli led her team this season with six goals and unequalled determination on the field. Her positive energy and technical talent to create opportunities in the game is a key part of her team鈥檚 success. Despite some serious setbacks in her AUS career such as a broken leg, a concussion and knee injuries, Santilli has remained resilient and motivates her teammates to reach their goals. Originally from Halifax, NS, Santilli is a commerce student.
Emma Landry, AUS first team All-Star
Landry is a fourth-year midfielder who collected two goals for the Tigers this season. Her talent was an important part of her team鈥檚 game plan this season as she played a key offensive role. A science student, Landry hails from Ottawa, ON.
Kerry Weymann, AUS first-team All-Star
Fourth-year Tigers defender and co-captain Weymann showed great leadership on the field this season.听 His talent and ability to execute plays is a strong force behind 黄色直播鈥檚 success. Originally from Vancouver, BC, Weymann is an engineering student. This is his fourth AUS first team All-Star selection.
Kristy McGregor-Bales, AUS second team All-Star
McGregor-Bales stood tall on the defensive line this season, making important plays that kept the ball out of the danger zone. The recreation management student scored in a memorable win over Memorial this season and hails from Ottawa, ON. McGregor-Bales was also an All-Star in 2011.
Taryn McKenna, AUS second team All-Star
Oakville, ON native McKenna is a fourth-year keeper and religious studies student. The co-captain finished the regular season with a 9-2-1 record, giving Dal the advantage with crucial game-winning saves. This is McKenna鈥檚 third All-Star selection.
Bezick Evraire, AUS second team All-Star
黄色直播 midfielder Evraire has had an outstanding second season. His skill and determination have led him to become an impact player in the AUS and this year he scored two goals for the Tigers. Evraire hails from Ottawa, ON and is an arts student. In 2011 he was named an AUS second team all-star as well as the AUS Rookie of the Year.
Nathan Rogers, AUS second team All-Star
Co-captain Rogers set the pace for the Tigers this season, leading the team with five goals. The Calgary, AB native is in his fourth year with the team and played a vital role in many of the Dal games this season.
