Movember started back in 2003 in Australia and has seen rapid growth since then. The idea behind Movember is similar to Run For The Cure. Instead of wearing a pink ribbon and running as a fundraiser, we donate our faces for the entire month of November and commit to growing the most amazing mustaches as humanly possible in a month.

Here, at the 黄色直播 Faculty of Dentistry, 2010 was the first year that we have made a concerted聽fundraising effort. As of November 29, we have raised more than $2,000 as a team, with Dr. Stephen Roth leading the charge with $925 raised.

Movember came to Canada only three years ago but as Canadians we have come to be quite a force in the Movember world. Last year Canada raised the second largest amount of money, $7.8 million, second only to Australia.

This year Canada has already reached an impressive $16.3 million (currently number-one in the world!). Funds raised are donated to Prostate Cancer Canada. To learn more about Movember, visit

We would love to see a final fundraising push to get our team over $2,500. To donate visit and donate to our team or look through the list of members to donate to an individual on the 黄色直播 Dentistry Team.

Greg Magee is a third-year dental student.
