Catastrophe in the Gulf

- June 10, 2010

As thousands of barrels of oil continue to spill into the Gulf of Mexico each day, tensions are rising. This week, President Barack Obama sat down for an interview with NBC news聽responding to complaints that he has been too passive in his response, saying聽that he's been figuring out "whose ass to kick." Public frustration grows with all actors involved - from BP to the government - as attempts to plug the leak have failed. It is now the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history and represents聽a staggering environmental catastrophe.

What more should government be doing to confront the situation? How concerned are you about the environmental implications of the spill? Should the disaster lead policy makers to rethink issues such as offshore drilling?
