A national bird?

- May 10, 2010

The osprey is Nova Scotia's official bird.

Antigua has the Magnificent Frigatebird; Bahrain the White-cheeked Bulbul; Japan has the Red-Crowned Crane.

And, the United States, of course, has the Bald Eagle.

But Canada doesn't have a national bird and when the Toronto Star reported on the oversight last week, readers flocked to the idea of naming Canada's own feathered ambassador.

What bird do you think should be adopted as Canada's official bird? According to James Cowan with the Canadian Raptor Conservancy it should be a bird found in most provinces and territories; tt can鈥檛 be a provincial bird or a national bird for another country; and, it must say something about being Canadian.
