Seminars
One of the most important roles for our Department聽 is the promotion of and active participation in the exchange of ideas with other researchers and educators.聽
The聽Seminar Program encourages interactions between members of the department and distinguished chemists from academic, industrial, and government laboratories from around the world. Many speakers are leaders in their fields of research and provide stimulating discussions on current research developments. In addition to the intellectual stimulation provided by the exchange of ideas, the visits of world-class scientists promote discussions that lead to the initiation of collaborative research projects with faculty, and to opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to undertake further study or employment at other institutions.
To this end, the聽Department hosts聽two annual prestigous lecture series,聽The Walter J. Chute Distinguished Lecture聽and the Carl C. Coffin Lecture.聽We also hold Visiting Speakers Seminars and Graduate Student Seminars.
