Congratulations to Environmental Engineering Masters student, Loay Jabre, on his first place win at the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society's (CMOS) 51st Congress' pitch talk competition.
Loay was challenged to present his research, titled "Sable Island Aerosol Study", to a general audience with the goal of getting the audience engaged and interested.
Loay's research forms an important part of a 5-year, sub-orbital, NASA mission entitled the 'North Atlantic Aerosols and Marine Ecosystems Study (NAAMES)'.
Loay, and his supervisors Dr. Mark Gibson and Dr. Susanne Craig (Department of Civil and Resource Engineering), together with NASA scientists are exploring the link between phytoplankton gaseous emission in the NW Atlantic, aerosols and the formation of clouds that mediate climate.
