As required by the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ requires a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) with a purpose to cooperatively engage employees and employers on matters related to occupational health and safety. Â
Currently there are three JOHSC at the Agricultural Campus. These committees will be restructured into working groups called Local Safety Teams which will continue to be a supportive venue to discuss health and safety concerns within similar work groups. The Agricultural Campus will also be introducing a new campus wide Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Committee, with the Vice President of Finance and Administration, locally through the Campus Principal, sponsoring the policy.
With the cooperation of staff, faculty, students and the University administration, both the Local Safety Teams and the EHS Committee will assist the University in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
You will be hearing more about this in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please contact Sarah Langille, EHS Officer if you are interested in supporting and motivating your fellow coworkers in striving for a minimal risk work workplace.
