Ruminate is a weekly discussion group for students, staff and faculty to discuss current issues in academia, science and agriculture.Â
This week we're going to be discussing the recent phenomenon of giving trigger warnings in course syllabuses on material that could potentially cause students distress.Â
Is this helping universities be more inclusive, more considerate and creating safe spaces for students, or are they impinging on the very purpose of universities and coddling students instead of helping them grow intellectually?
Faculty and Instructors:Â Have you never used a trigger warning in a course? Would you? Students:Â Do you want trigger warnings? Need them?Â
We're meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd at 12pm in the Douglas Room.Â
