On the afternoon of November 13th, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU) Sino-Canadian International College Project Opening Ceremony was held in front of the Overseas Education College (OEC) building.
Dr. Richard Florizone, President of »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥, Dr. Carolyn Watters, Provost & Vice President of DAL, Dr. Alain Boutet, Executive Director of International Relations, Dr. Chris Moore, Dean of Faculty of Science, Dr. David Gray, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Mr. Jiao Jie, Coordinator of International Relations, Dr. Siren Lan, President of FAFU, Dr. Zonghua Wang, Vice President of FAFU, attended the launch ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Zonghua Wang.
Dr. Siren Lan delivered a welcome speech. He said, the past 11 years of cooperation between FAFU and DAL had achieved fruitful results and this launching ceremony was a significant milestone in promoting FAFU’s internationalization. Initiating the Sino-Canadian International College Project was based on FAFU’s strategic plan of constructing a high level university. He believed that the Sino-Canadian International College would have a very successful and bright future through both FAFU and DAL’s efforts.
Dr. Richard Florizone spoke at the ceremony. He said, China’s development had attracted worldwide attention and China had become Canada’s important partner. DAL attached great importance to its relationship with FAFU, regarding FAFU as the most important cooperative partner. Both partners have benefited from this cooperation over the past 10 years. He hoped, DAL and FAFU can achieve greater success in students, faculty and curriculum exchange.
Dr. Richard Florizone, President of DAL, Dr. David Gray, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Siren Lan, President of FAFU and Dr. Gefu Wang-Pruski, Dean of OEC together pressed on the golden launching ball for the Sino-Canadian International College Project Opening Ceremony. Dr. Zonghua Wang announced that FAFU Sino-Canadian International College was officially launched.
After the Opening Ceremony of Sino-Canadian International College Project, an Unveiling Ceremony of FAFU-DAL Joint Laboratory was held in the front of Biology Building. Dr. Richard Florizone, Dr. Carolyn Watters, Dr. Siren Lan and Dr. Minsheng You, Vice President of FAFU, attended this ceremony and jointly inaugurated the laboratory.
After the Opening Ceremony of Sino-Canadian International College and FAFU-DAL Joint Laboratory, FAFU Party Committee Secretary, Huiling Ye met with the delegation lead by the President of »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ (DAL), Dr. Richard Florizone at the Conference Room of the 13th floor of Mingde Building. On behalf of all faculty and students, Mrs. Huiling Ye extended her warm welcome to the guests. She said, »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥, as a famous research-based university in Canada, had a solid and long history of cooperation with FAFU, and two had made remarkable achievements of cooperation. There had been around 500 FAFU students who went to study at DAL and gained their important life experience with the heartedly training by DAL.
Mrs Huiling Ye would like to express her heartfelt thanks to all the above works DAL had done. Also, She gave a general introduction on the school’s running, and hoped FAFU and DAL could deepen their cooperation in the future.
Dr. Richard Florizone, the President of DAL, said that FAFU was the most beautiful university he has ever seen because here was full of birds chirping, plants fragrance and other fascination. Meanwhile, he congratulated the achievements FAFU had made recently and hoped DAL could strengthen the cooperative relationship with FAFU and conduct a higher-level training and exchange on talents.
International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Educational Administration, Students Affairs Office, College of Horticulture, College of Resource and Environmental Science, College of Forestry, Overseas Education College and other department’s leadership attended this event.
