The Living Wall, located in the Plant Science section of Cox Institute has been taken over by lettuce!
Students in the Plant Propagation class have been taking stem cuttings of assorted tropical plants to grow out and when they are large enough have used them to keep the wall filled.听听 This striking feature also highlights AC in its design.
The Living Wall was installed last September and has many potential uses for students and faculty alike.
鈥淲e wanted to get people excited about plants and to attract people to the field,鈥 said Shannon Kilyanek a senior Plant Science Technician in the department. 鈥淚t seems to be working.鈥
Students will become involved with the Living Wall through various course work.听 The Propagation class will be growing plants for the structure while other student projects will determine the most suitable plants for the system.听 The Forage Class may consider filling the wall with varying crops for student identification.
