An exciting new event being planned for this year's Orientation schedule is an Induction Ceremony. This is an academic ceremony that could be considered a "reverse Convocation" for our new students. Entering new programs of study and as new university students the Induction Ceremony will provide a glimpse of the Convocation ceremony they will participate in themselves in 2 or 4 years time.
Staff and faculty should mark Wednesday, Sept 4th at 1pm on their calendars and plan to be on hand to attend the Induction Ceremony which will be held in the Alumni Theatre. There will be a piper, special music, and an academic procession of faculty and staff in academic dress - the familiar elements of Convocation. The mace will be on display on stage as a symbol of the tradition of Convocation. The President and the VP, Academic will be in attendance and Dr Gray, our new Dean will be the key note speaker in this special half hour ceremony.
More news on Orientation in next week's E-Bulletin - for more information or with questions on the Orientation schedule contact Brian Crouse, Staff Chair, or Gaylynn Hill, Student Co-Chair, in Student Services.
