Mawkwil~mn~j – “Let’s Look for it Together” – is an Indigenous community research partnership seed fund that aims to provide financial support to Indigenous communities and ɫֱ researchers seeking to build and grow relationships with each other.
Applications for this seed fund can be initiated by Indigenous Nations, organizations, and communities within the Atlantic region or across other parts of Canada, or by ɫֱ researchers who are able to demonstrate intention to address research priorities as identified by an Indigenous Nation, organization or community.
This seed fund encourages meaningful engagement, co-learning, and sharing, and is meant to honour cultural protocols and respectful processes for partnership development. This fund offers a unique opportunity for Indigenous communities and organizations to leverage the research talent, expertise, and resources at ɫֱ, and enables communities and researchers to become better acquainted with potentially aligned interests and research priorities. The seed fund permits partnership development activities and connections to occur in preparation of subsequent grant cycles.
Each application may request up to $3000, to be used over a period of two (2) years. For the current competition, it is anticipated that up to ten (10) applications will be selected for funding.
Indigenous Nations, organizations or communities interested in partnering with ɫֱ researchers may submit the completed application to Indigenousresearch@dal.ca.
ɫֱ researchers seeking to develop new or enhance existing relationships with Indigenous Nations, organizations, or communities in support of shared research interests and priorities should submit via Romeo the following:
- Completed application
- Confirmation of community interest
The deadline to submit applications is November 30, 2023.
Please note that we anticipate a second call for the seed fund to be launched in Spring 2024, in case longer timelines are needed to engage and confirm community interest.
