»ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ Faculty are invited to join Scott White, Editor-in-Chief of to learn about the online publication and how they can use it as a platform to share their research-based ideas and opinions.  

The Conversation Canada delivers analysis and explanatory journalism from the academic and research community directly to the public. »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ is one of the publication’s Founding Members and pays an annual fee for the university’s faculty to contribute.

Writing for The Conversation allows faculty to reach a large readership. Since joining in 2011, 154 »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ authors have written 301 articles that have been read 5,684,191 times. Thirty-three per cent of Dal’s readers are in Canada, but just as many are in the United States.

Researchers are paired with an editor who works with them to hone their writing for a mainstream news audience. It’s a rewarding process that often helps researchers sharpen their messages for grant applications and other areas of their work.

At the workshop, Scott White will walk faculty members through how to submit ideas for consideration and work with them to individually to craft a pitch.

Previous to his role at The Conversation Canada, Scott White was Editor-in-Chief of The Canadian Press and VP Content Strategy and Business Development at Postmedia. He has an MBA from the Rotman School of Management and is a graduate of the journalism program at Toronto Metropolitan University.
