The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Grand Challenges Explorations program recently launched a new Grand Challenge, titled Ending the Pandemic Threat: A Grand Challenge for Universal Influenza Vaccine Development.
This Grand Challenge is being launched during the centenary year of the 1918 flu pandemic, with the goal of identifying novel, transformative concepts that would lead to development of a truly universal flu vaccine. Such a vaccine would alleviate the need for annual seasonal influenza vaccination campaigns and would prepare the world for the next influenza pandemic.
This request for proposals intends to fund pilot awards of up to USD $2 million over 2 years, with the anticipation that one or more pilot projects, on demonstration of promising proof-of-concept data (e.g., from animal models), may be invited to apply for a full award up to USD $10 million.
Full details of this call are available .
Any »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ faculty member interested in this opportunity is asked to contact the International Research Manager (jennifer.morawiecki@dal.ca) for more information and support in preparing an application.
