In April 2016, Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) will formally announce the launch of a joint initiative and call for proposals to support peer-reviewed research on Syrian refugee resettlement in Canada. The call for applications will open in April, 2016, with links on both IRCC and SSHRC websites.
The key objective of this joint initiative and call is to award supplementary support to active SSHRC funded researchers working in areas related to immigration and refugee resettlement. The call seeks to support research addressing pressing short-term issues related to the current refugee resettlement effort, in order to inform and support the efforts of policymakers, service organisation and other stakeholders.
In support of the call, IRCC and SSHRC are offering a series of three webinars focusing on 1) policy and operational context, 2) research data, 3) on research support.
