Statistics Canada will be conducting a new electronic survey for the 2014/2015 academic year. The survey, called Research and Development in the Higher Education Sector, will target randomly selected individual faculty members from across Canada. Ìý
The purpose of the survey is to collect information related to research and development in postÂsecondary institutions throughout Canada: in particular, information related to teaching, research, administration, and service. The data from the survey will be a crucial component in estimating higher education research and development expenditures needed to update current trends within the sector. This information will also be used to produce gross domestic expenditures in research and development across Canada.
Faculty members are required to participate in this survey under the authority of theÌýStatistics Act. The information they provide will be kept confidential, and used for statistical and research purposes only.
Faculty members will receive an email with a link to a secure electronic questionnaire. The scheduled survey collection period is from February 9 to 27, 2015.ÌýAdditional information on this survey can be found on .Ìý
